Reflections of a Mommy

by Running On Empty Mommy on October 12, 2011

So, I have been MIA for the past month or so. But, a lot of things have been happening in my life. First things first, I am currently fulfilling the requirements of my student teaching practicum. As most of you know, this is something I have been waiting for since I was in second grade. I am loving it. I am in fourth grade at a local school, and I have the most amazing cooperating teacher and supervisor a student could ask for. Yes, I’m bragging. I had so much anxiety about my placement and my supervisor, that I am happy to say it was all for naught.

Then, my little man turned 3.

I cannot believe it. His actions and his words move me everyday. It’s the most exciting and fulfilling journey of my life. Motherhood. Each day he uses new words or sentences or phrases that crack me up. Over the past month, he has started with, “Mom, just 5 more minutes.” Every time I ask him to do something I get this response. Even though when I’m in a rush, it’s quite irritating, all I can do is smile when he puts his little hand up.

On a more somber note, I turned 30. I know 30 is not old, but in the words of Deana Carter, “I still remember….when 30 was old…” I am 30, I still live with my parents, and I am still in college. It sounds bad when I say it like that, but honestly I would not change a thing. I had a fabulous birthday weekend with friends, family, and awesome bloggy mommies/friends! It was really more than a girl could ever ask for. I’m beginning to think 30 is fabulous…

Lots more to fill you in on, but now this Running on Empty Mommy must go to bed! Let’s just say there will be a part 2 to this post, and it includes potty training triumphs and B’s first day at T-ball.

Just a thought.

I was gonna say, “It’s about time!” Then I read the caption under photo #2 – there is NO WAY that is your mother! She looks like one of your girlfriends. Seriously, if that’s your mom, I need to know what she’s doing to look so amazingly young and gorgeous!
